Donations ...

Dee’s Abled Children have introduced this service in response to a growing need to provide regular financial assistance to families who are caring for children with special needs. With the introduction of the outreach and early intervention programme more and more families are coming forward for help.

Daynore experienced one example of this on her recent visit in June 2009. A young mother arrived at the centre carrying her son. Tharindu, 11 months old at the time suffers from Cerebral Palsy and is severely disabled. The mother explained that they had been abandoned by the father when Tharindu was three months old. This has left them destitute, surviving by offerings of food by concerned neighbours.

Tharindu will receive ongoing support from our outreach team. He will attend the centre for physical and occupational therapy. Financial assistance is available for medicine and medical treatment and any disability equipment required. However in cases like this financial support is desperately needed to provide basic needs like food and clothing.

It has become increasingly evident that Dee’s Abled Children need to generate additional income to help support the ever increasing number of children that are being identified in this area. Just £10 would help greatly towards providing basic needs for children like Tharindu.

It is the aim of Dee’s Abled Children to promote good health and well being for the disadvantaged, disabled children in this area of Sri Lanka.
